About the Clean Chemist
Hi, I’m Sondra —chemist, chemistry teacher, the founder of The Clean Chemist, and proud skincare nerd.
I started this brand in early 2025 after what felt like a lifetime of searching for products that wouldn’t irritate my sensitive, eczema-prone skin. As a woman with both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry, I knew the science behind the ingredients— and too often, I didn’t like what I saw in commercial products. So I decided to take matters into my own hands— or rather, my own lab.
What began as a personal mission to create gentle, science-backed soaps quickly bubbled into something more. I realized that there were so many others like me — people who just wanted skincare products they could trust. No parabens*, no phthalates*, no suspected carcinogens. Just real ingredients with real benefits.
The Clean Chemist is my way of merging my two greatest passions: chemistry and caring for others. Every product is handcrafted in small batches using conflict-free oils, sustainable packaging, and naturally derived ingredients that are kind to skin and the planet.
My Promise:
Thoughtfully formulated products with sensitive skin in mind
Free from harsh chemicals and full of nature powered goodness
Eco-conscious from our sourcing to our packaging
Infused with curiosity, care, and a little nerdy joy
Whether you’re looking for something soothing like The Golden Ratio, energizing like Mocha Molecule, or pure and simple like Formula Zero, my goal is to help you find a formula that works.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you find something here that your skin (and your inner science nerd) will love.
**Footnote: While I personally prefer to avoid phthalates and parabens in my skincare products as I find they irritate my sensitive skin, there is no scientifically backed evidence that these ingredients pose a substantial harm to your health when used in skincare products. That said, all of our products are paraben and phthalate free.
